I just happened to catch Obama on television the other day. It was a re-run of his news conference on “Looking Forward”. I believe that this news conference was held late last week and it wouldn’t be anything that is unusual except for a couple of things he said.
The first comment that caught my attention was a response to a reporter who had just asked Obama if he was going to form a committee to investigate the crimes of the Bush Administration. Obama answered to say that the Bush Administration hadn’t committed any crimes. My immediate reaction was “Say What?”. “What we need to do”, said President elect Obama, “is look forward”. “We don’t need to be distracted by the past”.
And coming into my mind was “ This is change”? “Sounds like same ole, same ole, to me.”
But he wasn’t through yet. He went on to opine that Iran was indeed building Nuclear Weapons. I was wondering how many people out there are more sure that Bush and bunch committed crimes than Iran is developing Nuclear Bombs? My vote goes to its more likely that Bush and bunch committed crimes.
I am fairly certain that the Bush bunch committed crimes. I am equally certain that none of them will have to spend any time before a Judge for those crimes of War Mongering, Torture, Financial Skullduggery, and theft of American Citizens rights. I will have to admit that it would take someone with a couple of pencils and a working pencil sharpener to list them all.
People, have we elected a Bush “misunderestimated” re-incarnate, or maybe a Clinton “depends on what the meaning of is –is”,? Time will tell, but I’m beginning to get somewhat apprehensive. Obama did hint that he would close Gitmo early on. The fact that Gitmo is open and holding people who are guilty of nothing is a crime in itself.
Yes there could be some bad apples at Gitmo, but last year a study of the United States records of the detainees at Gitmo (it was reported at a Senate hearing shown live on TV) showed that 93% of the people there at the time were guilty of nothing more than being bought by the U S Armed forces from Afghan and Pakistani tribes for $5000 and up per head. Oh yeah, there’s also the children they bought being held there, some are 15 to 19 years old now.
I’ve been writing that criminal activity left unpunished breeds more criminals. Seems that were going to get to find out if a “free pass” will turn them into upstanding citizens and discourage more criminal behavior. My guess is no and no.
I’ve also been calling for the demise of the Republican Party. That’s something the individual citizen can do on his own. Just never vote for a Republican candidate again. And if you recall, I had also asked the people move to the Independent Parties and especially I have asked that we form a Coalition Party of Independents to fill the void left by the departing Republicans. That’s a punishment that the surviving party should understand. But they won’t unless the bad guys get punished.
I’m also advocating the rise of a new 4th Party to be ready to fill in for the elimination of the Democratic Party if Obama and bunch don’t heed the warning. We need to be careful whom we select as our next leader, and we absolutely need to punish those who stole our American dream.
I hope Obama turns out to be a moral and ethical President. One who will keep fidelity with those who elected him. But the President elect Obama no longer sounds like the candidate Obama.
